Third Sector Business Charity Awards

Reliance Bank are delighted to be shortlisted for our entry for Charity Partnership in the Banks & Financial Services category in the Third Sector Business Charity Awards. All winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Thursday 8th May 2025 at London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.

Reliance Bank was founded as the bank for The Salvation Army, by William Booth (the founder of The Salvation Army) in 1890. We are proud of our shareholder The Salvation Army International and its work as a Christian Charity, helping people whose lives have been affected by emergencies, disasters, poverty and social inequality. Our customers choose to bank with us because of this history and the fact that they can support the Army by choosing to put their deposits with Reliance Bank. We call it Giving Money Meaning.

Reliance Bank has donated £8M to The Salvation Army, this money has been used to support evangelical and charitable work both in the UK and abroad over the last 15 years.

Reliance Bank services the day-to-day banking requirements for International Headquarters, the UK Territory, Corps and shops, SAGIC, SATCoL, William Booth College and the Salvation Army Housing Association.

Reliance Bank also holds deposits for more than 30 Salvation Army territories, with territories operating in conjunction with the central funding from IHQ.

We have recently launched Charity Giving Savings Accounts where we will pay a percentage of the advertised interest rate to The Salvation Army in the UK. These contributions will help to provide essential services to people, including support for the homeless, job training, debt advice, emergency relief and community outreach. This work will empower individuals and families to rebuild their lives and succeed.

Our customer’s deposits are used to provide funding to organisations that provide health and social care, affordable housing projects and treatment centres that help people affected by gambling-related harm.

We provide funding to organisations like food banks who reduce hunger for people living in poverty. And our funding is used by community centres that allow young people who feel abandoned by society, by school, by family, the opportunity to feel cared for and included.

Reliance Bank aligns its lending policies to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals – a blueprint to help reduce poverty, protect the planet’s future and improve lives.

Reliance Bank’s funding helped:

  • Reduce hunger for 2,100 people
  • Reduce poverty for 545 people,
  • 2,900 people with community centres and facilities and
  • 443 people have received personal learning and development opportunities.

Open a Reliance Bank Business & Charity Current Account and the money you deposit with us contributes to providing funding to organisations delivering positive social impact in the UK.
