John is on the Bank’s Board of Directors, and was the Bank’s chair for 5 years until 2019 and has carried out a number of senior roles with experience of finance, planning and utilisation.

John was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in 1979, working in the UK, Kenya and Zimbabwe until 1997. Subsequent appointments included the Divisional Commander in London, the Secretary for Business Administration for the UK Territory, and the Territorial Commander of Zambia and East Kenya. Commissioner Wainwright returned to the UK in 2013 and was appointed International Secretary for Business Administration on 1 May 2013 advising the General and Chief of the staff on all matters of finance, planning and utilisation.
